Evaluation and Regular Season Update - September 1, 2023

We've been working hard at getting all of the details in order for the upcoming season, as the season is fast approaching many are wondering about the schedule, so this is an update with the TENTATIVE schedule.  I bolded tentative as this will be subject to change and the Arena website should be consulted for all of the actual times.  The Arena website is the firm schedule if there is any discrepancies between here and there, so please check it before the tune up skates and evaluations.  Click for the Arena Schedule page.  

U9 Schedule

Our U9 schedules are still not completely finalized as we are contemplating having 4 teams in U9 as opposed to 3, and we still don't know how or if the teams will be tiered depending on the league with Martensville/Warman.  We have the U9 times in the schedule, but we may adjust them and ask the team managers to sort through how to rotate in the 4:00 practice time every third week for the U9 groups or come up with a plan to share the ice with the other teams around game days if we have 4 teams.  

Tune up Skates and Evaluations - Please read this part:

Tune up skates and evaluations are optional for all players, if you choose not to evaluate you will be placed on the lower tier team by default. If there are extenuating circumstances regarding an absence from evaluations please reach out to the CMHA Executive.  

We are not hosting tune up skates for U18 or players on the U9 and U11 female teams prior to evaluations.  We only have one team in U18 and will head straight into practices the week of October 2nd, and all players who are playing on the U9 and U11 female teams will not attend the tune up skates or evaluations as you will be automatically placed on the female teams.  The reason for this is to keep the numbers reasonable for the skates, as we have nearly 50 registrants in U9 and U11 and it's just too many to have on the ice.  However, we will try and booked some ice for a tune up for these groups on Sunday the 2nd after the evaluations are complete.  See schedule for details. 

The evaluation scrimmages for U15 will be full contact. We will have some safe checking skills completed during the tune up skates so it will be important to attend these skates if you are new to the U15 group.

Similar to previous years, we may ask players to skip the second and/or third evaluation skates in order to provide a better look at the mid-level players to make decisions on how best to tier the players.
